The official website www.wtc2026.co.za has been set up by the South African National Committee on Tunnelling (SANCOT) and the Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (SAIMM) to support South Africa's bid to host the ITA-AITES' World Tunnel Congress 2026 (WTC 2026) in Cape Town.

The central theme of the bid is "The Role of Underground Space in Shaping Megacities of the Future." If the bid is successful, the congress will be held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre in April/May 2026. The bid is supported by the availability of quality accommodation, Cape Town's status as a tourist destination, and the proximity of the CTICC to renowned vineyards and big game reserves.

The website will be updated with bid progress and will serve as the repository for the formal bid and supporting documents until the WTC 2023 in Athens, Greece, where the host for WTC 2026 will be announced.
